WOW 3.0 on washington post…. :-)

Does Virtual Reality Need a Sheriff? – washingtonpost.com
In World of Warcraft, the most popular online game, with an estimated 8 million participants worldwide, some regions of this fantasy domain have grown so lawless that players said they fear to brave them alone. Gangs of animated characters have repeatedly preyed upon lone travelers, killing them and making off with their virtual belongings.

Too bad this isn’t the way it works…. It could be fun! Too much south park for this editor I think.

Cisco Call Manager Dates in Crystal Reports

by on Feb.16, 2007, under Technology, Work

Once again, I hit a wall when trying to integrate all my databases here at work. This time, I was stymied by the fact that even though Cisco CCM runs it’s database on MS SQL server, the system does not use native date/time formats. Instead it decides to use the industry standard… number of seconds since January 1st, 1970. So I have a huge long integer. No problem right? I’ll just put it through Crystal’s formula engine. Except I get an error telling me the year is out of range.

Turns out the Crystal Date functions are based upon DAYS, not seconds. and the base date is 1900, not 1970. So, in order to make this work, I need to convert our integer from seconds to days, and then offset our number by 70 years. So what’s the solution?

CDateTime ({call manager date value}/(24*60*60)+(Date (1970, 1, 1)-Date (1900, 1, 1)))

You are welcome.

Google Goodies

Been playing with some interesting toys from google. They have released a iphoto plugin for the picassa web albums. It allows you to create web albums directly from iside iphoto. It works really good. I have been trying to integrate it back into WordPress… and that has not gone so well. It’s just too new at this point. It’s hard to beat the maturity of the coppermine integration.

A couple cute photos of Katlyn

Not be left out, here are a couple of Katlyn. She loves the slides and swings. For the first time this year, she is getting an extended stay in the snow. If her little fingers didn’t get so cold she would never come inside.

Thought you all might like a couple photos of Brad and Kate doing their thing.[thumb:2529:i]This second picture is Brad on his Birthday. He loved his cake. This was one of those times where he was actually more interested in eating than wearing! Total Chocolate freak.
